SYRIAN MINISTER STRESSES EXPANSION OF TIES

The Syrian Minister of Transport Makram Obeid called for expansion of economic ties with Iran. Speaking to IRNA, Obeid said the inauguration of Tehran-Damascus Express Train demonstrates the willingness of the two countries to further improve the relations. The railway link which takes 60-hour weekly trip, covers 2,500 km through Syria, Turkey and Iran. The rail link with Iran, costing $35 per ticket, is expected to double the number of Iranians visiting Syria from 25,000 a year.
